21 Cases Reported Since January; Awareness Campaign Underway
Dengue Cases Rise in Mysuru District
The Health Department has confirmed 21 cases of dengue fever in Mysuru district since the beginning of January. This follows the testing of samples collected from individuals exhibiting symptoms suggestive of the disease.
Out of 577 suspected cases, 492 samples were tested, with 21 returning positive. Mysuru city itself accounts for 10 of these confirmed cases, originating from a pool of 290 suspected cases.

Health Department Launches Awareness Campaign
In response to the rising number of dengue cases, the Health Department has initiated a comprehensive awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about preventive measures. This includes promoting mosquito control, eliminating breeding sites, and encouraging early diagnosis and treatment.
- Eliminate standing water: Check for and remove stagnant water in containers, flower pots, and tires.
- Use mosquito repellent: Apply mosquito repellent containing DEET or picaridin.
- Wear protective clothing: Wear long sleeves and pants, especially during peak mosquito activity.
- Keep surroundings clean: Regularly clean and maintain your surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding.

Symptoms and Treatment
Dengue fever is transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes. Symptoms typically include fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, and rash. In severe cases, dengue can lead to dengue hemorrhagic fever, which can be life-threatening.
