Dog Owner's Anger as Grass Seeds Lead to £300 Vet Bill
Richard Freedman from East Barnet is furious after grass seeds resulted in a hefty vet bill for his beloved cockapoo, Chester. He's calling on Barnet Council to take action.
The Costly Walk
Richard Freedman is demanding that Barnet Council ensure weeds on pavements are cleared after Chester, his cockapoo, suffered due to grass seeds.

"It started with Chester licking his paws excessively," explains Richard. "We initially thought it was just allergies, but it rapidly escalated."
The Diagnosis and Treatment
After a visit to the vet, it was discovered that grass seeds had burrowed into Chester's paws, causing significant irritation and requiring treatment. The final bill? A staggering £300.
"This is unacceptable," Richard states. "The council needs to maintain the pavements properly. This isn't just about aesthetics; it's about the safety and wellbeing of our pets."
Council Response
Barnet Council has responded, stating that it has a "programme to cut grass and remove weeds across the borough." However, Richard argues that this is clearly not sufficient.
"Their current programme isn't working," he says. "We need more frequent and thorough weed removal to prevent this from happening to other dogs."
